ARF logo origin???
So I LOVE the ARF logo. It's great! I've got to order the t-shirt to really confuse people at the office (gotta love "casual day").
But I would like to know what is the origin of the logo? Any fascinating story on its design and creation, or did some ad exec just quickly sketch it on a piece of paper?
Thanks

Well, I wish I had some long, convoluted story to tell you about the logo - it could have subplots, heroes, villains, and maybe a guest cameo or two...that would probably be more amusing than the real story. But here's what we've got: this was back in '99 as I recall. I mentioned the name of my new project to my good friend Chandra Spence, and she whipped up the logo in short order. Basically, she nailed it on the first try (she's good that way). Incidentally, Chandra also did most of the work on the album art.

Well, even if the story didn't move me to tears (I can be a sentimental softy sometimes!) it's still a great image. Not just the amish character, but the fact that it's on the yellow warning diamond sign, like a "children in crosswalk" sign you see along the roads by schools.
Caution: amish rake fight potential in this area.
But, I guess that's the point, for an ARF could happen anywhere....
providing there's Amish in the area....
with rakes.....
and the need to do battle, something that is very un-Amish....
or unless someone is listening to some very good music!
Thanks

I was really amused to see these shirts, as I grew up in amish country ohio - no, I'm not amish, I just lived there. There are, in fact, big yellow signs with amish buggies posted all over the place on rural roads (which is to say most of them), along with others depicting cattle and other animals that may be crossing/on the street. So one of these shirts thrown up on a post would fit right in.
As for the amish getting in rake fights, it's quite possible, the young ones love their crystal meth.
No, I'm not kidding

Incidentally, Chandra remided me that she worked up some variations and alternate ideas based on the logo that we never ended up using. I'll have to put those on the website some time for your intellectual and philosophical enjoyment.

Mike, did you happen to give some other band permission to use your name and logo??
Imagine the look on my face when I came across this page on Myspace and the music started playing.... "WTF" doesn't quite describe it...

I felt pretty insulted when I saw that....sooo pathetic. Why would somebody do that? Do they really suck THAT bad that they can't even come up with their own name and find a friend with a little talent to help them create some art?
They sound so shitty that I'm suprised they didn't jack one of your songs and try to pawn that off as theirs too..
There is actually one more group of clowns on there using Amish Rake Fight as their name, but at least they don't appear to have stolen your logo.

Good luck using the handle of your rake to, umm.... help them mend their ways! :-D

Oh, rest assured we'll be dealing with this in short order. It's already rolling and I'm not even home from vacation yet.
