From Ye Olde ARF Mailbag:

"you guys should seriously consider coming to dc! if you haven't already heard of nation, it's this cool ass wearhouse that was converted into a club, it was voted one of the top ten clubs in the country! i've seen so many good bands there and would love to see you guys make the trip soon!!!!!!!!!!!"

Here's the deal: we actually were planning to play there , during the early stages of tour planning. But it worked out to be better for us to go West on the inital run.

So, there's a very good chance that we'll play at Nation - just not on this first leg...more likely early Summer.

Incidentally, I played there with Machines back when it was Capitol Ballroom (thanks to Chris R. for helping me remember the name). That's one giant-ass venue. A stark contrast to the tiny 9:30 club, though that one was great too, albeit for different reasons.

Saw Kraftwerk at 9:30 recently. What a blast!

That's an awfully small venue for Kraftwerk, but I'll bet it was a great show.

Of the many, many things that are great about Kraftwerk, one is how they can get away with putting on a show where they just stand there nearly motionless in front of laptop computers for 2 hours. As a friend pointed out, they could have been checking their email, for all we know! And yet, nonetheless, somehow it was not only a great show, it was rivetting! They are the undisputed kings of minimalism.

I think Mike might not be aware that the 9:30 he's thinking of is no longer around. The "new" 9:30 is much larger. The one around the corner from Ford's Theatre closed several years ago.

Crap. I liked that place.

Especially the rats in the basement.
